Our client is seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to lead its accounting, finance, and treasury functions while serving as a strategic partner to executive leadership. The CFO will oversee a team of 10+ finance professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and leadership to the broader department.
This is a strategic, executive-level role requiring deep expertise in debt and equity structures, investor relations, tax structuring, cash flow management, and compliance. The CFO will play a pivotal role in supporting acquisitions, asset management, and corporate initiatives while managing relationships with institutional investors, lenders, and insurance providers.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy, capital allocation, and organizational structure.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to senior finance leaders and the broader team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional development.
- Serve as a thought leader on structuring new ventures and affiliated businesses (outside of real estate).
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Oversee consolidated reporting for executives, investors, and lenders.
- Guide VPs in managing audits, budgets, tax returns, and property-level reporting.
- Lead development of reporting dashboards and tools to enhance executive decision-making.
Capital & Treasury Management
- Collaborate with leadership to manage corporate and property-level cash flows.
- Oversee compliance with investor agreements, lender requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Partner with acquisitions and capital markets teams to integrate new properties and financings.
Risk & Insurance
- Direct insurance programs across the portfolio, ensuring adequate coverage and cost optimization.
- Evaluate and implement risk management practices across diverse businesses.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain and enhance strong relationships with the executive leadership team to manage institutional investors, lenders, and external advisors.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, balancing consensus-building with executive decision-making.
Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or a similar field; advanced degree desired
- CPA preferred
- Experience leading a large accounting/finance team for a real estate investment organization
- Knowledgeable in Yardi, MRI or a similar software
- Advanced knowledge of debt and equity structures
- Experienced in reporting for institutional investors
