Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automation Technician to support the build, integration, programming, and startup of custom automated machinery and robotic systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience programming industrial robots using RoboGuide and/or RobotStudio, along with strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and PLC integration experience.

This position plays a critical role in machine commissioning, debugging, and customer startup support. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced automation environment and collaborating closely with controls engineers, mechanical engineers, and assembly teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot industrial robots for custom automation systems
  • Develop and modify robot programs using RoboGuide, RobotStudio, and pendant programming
  • Support PLC integration, I/O mapping, communications, and machine functionality testing
  • Assist with machine startup, debug, FAT, SAT, and customer commissioning activities
  • Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on automated equipment
  • Work closely with controls and engineering teams to optimize machine performance
  • Validate robot paths, tooling operation, safety systems, and cycle functionality
  • Support integration of sensors, vision systems, conveyors, end-of-arm tooling, and peripheral devices
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, and mechanical drawings
  • Assist with machine assembly, wiring verification, and system checkout
  • Document programming changes, startup notes, and troubleshooting activities
  • Travel to customer sites for installation and support as required

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation or automated machinery
  • Strong experience programming industrial robots using RoboGuide and/or RobotStudio
  • Experience integrating robots with PLC-controlled systems
  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Hands-on experience with automated manufacturing equipment
  • Familiarity with industrial sensors, pneumatics, servos, and safety systems
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments

Preferred

  • Experience with FANUC, ABB, or other industrial robot platforms
  • PLC troubleshooting or programming experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
  • Experience with fieldbus and industrial communication protocols
  • Vision system integration experience
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in automation, robotics, or electrical technology
  • Experience supporting machine startups and customer installations
