The Cost Accountant will oversee the costing and analysis processes related to the project cost system. This role involves participating in various project teams as the financial organization representative, supporting key decision-making processes. The position will also provide critical financial analysis to optimize management tools and support business decisions.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage the cost close-out process for completed project shipments and installations.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis on completed projects, collaborating with department managers and supervisors to ensure accuracy.
  • Record monthly journal entries to reflect cost and variance adjustments.
  • Prepare and present monthly management reports related to costs and financial performance.
  • Reconcile, maintain, and report on all inventory accounts.
  • Review project quotes and contracts to ensure compliance with accounting requirements and proper financial oversight.
  • Create, monitor, and maintain project phases to ensure accurate tracking of costs.
  • Manage and maintain accruals for Project Warranty, Training, Post-Ship, and Installation costs.
  • Support the year-end financial audit by providing requested records and test selections.
  • Maintain accurate standard material costs within the system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, or related field; CPA or other relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, particularly in job or process cost accounting.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
  • Proficient ERP user, preferably with experience in SAP.
