Our client is a leader in the Plastic Injection Molding industry specializing in Medical Device and other custom manufactured parts.
We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager in St Paul, MN.
Pay: $120,000 – $140,000
Summary:
Over see Project managers, Manufacturing Engineers, and tool shop.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the NPD program team and directly manage additional programs as workload requires.
- Propose and complete engineering projects for the manufacture of new products, cost reduction, cycle time reduction, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting DOE’s; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors, and soliciting observational feedback from operators.
- Support CAPA process. Understand and interpret technical information, gather and analyze data, define the problem, determine the root cause and provide and implement solutions.
- Promote employee engagement and collaboration in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain an environment and culture that optimizes safety and preserves the well-being of all employees.
- Define fixture designs and automation in conjunction with the cost and time constraints of the project. Review and present alternatives while providing ROI (Return on Investment) documentation.
- Ensure high levels of customer engagement, troubleshoot timeline delays, and effectively collaborate with the customer.
- Ensure robust production processes are handed off to the production team through execution of PPAP and/or IQ, OQ, PQ validations
- Execute routine day-to-day tasks, such as: approve NPD project quotes and injection mold tooling quotes, track tooling builds and engage tool room, attend weekly customer meetings, establish and manage project timelines, set up assembly lines and execute validations.
- Work cross functionally within the plant and between all manufacturing sites, holding all supporting functions accountable for following through on commitments.
- Identify and implement future technology and automation improvements within manufacturing processes.
- Manage the budget for each project to ensure profitability. Ensure that customers are invoiced routinely and revenue targets are achieved.
- Manage the work instruction and workflow process to ensure that the engineering team is providing complete and timely instructions to the manufacturing production staff.
- Perform process design, equipment procurement, and installation projects.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or related field preferred.
- 5+ years engineering experience designing, setting up, and implementation of work cells in a manufacturing environment and/or leading new product development initiatives.
- Previous leadership experience in an Engineering environment required.
- Experience in contract manufacturing and the Injection molding plastics industry preferred.
- Experience within an ISO 13485 registered manufacturing facility is preferred.
- A comprehensive knowledge of process development and automation.
- Secondary Operations Experience with sonic welding, heat staking, feeder bowls, pick & place, pad printing, decorative marking, plastic joining processes, complex assemblies, and robotics.
- Comprehensive skills using Microsoft Office programs, basic CAD knowledge (Solid Works or Creo is a plus), and the ability to understand specialized programs used in custom equipment.
- Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate direct reports and lead in a changing environment.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to develop staff through coaching, mentoring, and training.
- Ability to build strong relationships with peers and have the ability to work collaboratively.
