Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will play a crucial role in preparing accurate and comprehensive estimates for civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction, possess excellent analytical and organizational skills, and be proficient in relevant software applications.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure accurate estimation.
• Utilize industry knowledge and past experience to provide input on project feasibility and cost-effective solutions.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids and negotiate pricing when necessary.
• Prepare comprehensive and detailed cost estimates, including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other project-related expenses.
• Review project plans and specifications to identify potential issues, risks, and value engineering opportunities.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as required.
• Collaborate with the project team during project execution to address any estimating-related concerns or changes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
• 8-15 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a proven track record in estimating.
• Strong proficiency in using estimation software such as HCSS HeavyBid, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project/Primavera.
• Familiarity with private sector and NYC municipal construction projects.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
