Position Summary
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing domestic and international shipping operations, ensuring efficient movement of goods, regulatory compliance, and on-time delivery performance. This role leads daily logistics activities, manages relationships with freight and customs brokers, and ensures compliance with international trade regulations, tariffs, and customs requirements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong ERP system experience and several years of international logistics management expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily logistics, shipping, receiving, and transportation activities.
- Manage international import/export operations, including ocean, air, and ground freight shipments.
- Collaborate with customs brokers and freight brokers to ensure timely customs clearance and delivery execution.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs documentation requirements, HTS classifications, tariffs, and import/export laws.
- Monitor and manage freight costs, carrier performance, and transportation metrics to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Lead, coach, and develop logistics personnel while maintaining a high-performance team environment.
- Coordinate with suppliers, customers, warehouses, and internal departments to resolve shipping issues and improve service levels.
- Maintain accurate shipping records, inventory transactions, and reporting within ERP systems.
- Analyze logistics performance data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support inventory control, cycle counting, and warehouse coordination activities as needed.
- Ensure adherence to company safety standards, quality requirements, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations with significant international shipping responsibility.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience required.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- International shipping and import/export processes
- Customs regulations and trade compliance
- Customs brokers and freight broker management
- Tariffs, duties, and HTS classifications
- Carrier negotiations and freight optimization
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of Incoterms and international trade documentation.
- APICS, CLTD, or other supply chain/logistics certifications are a plus.
