Manufacturing Engineer

$70K/yr - $100K/yr
Dayton Metro Area (On-site)
Full Time

We are seeking a versatile and technically-minded Manufacturing Engineer to join a growing machinery manufacturing company. This role is a unique blend of “boots-on-the-ground” production expertise and high-level design. You won’t just be sitting behind a desk; you will be the bridge between the engineering department and the clients.

About the Role

The ideal candidate is a CNC expert who can program from a blank slate, a creative designer who understands manufacturability, and a polished communicator capable of representing the brand at major trade shows and during critical customer site visits.

Responsibilities

CNC Programming & Process Optimization

  • Program from Scratch: Develop complex multi-axis CNC programs (Mill/Turn) using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or SolidCAM).
  • Tooling & Fixturing: Select appropriate cutting tools and design custom work-holding fixtures to optimize production cycles.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor floor operations to reduce cycle times, eliminate waste, and improve part quality.

Design & Engineering

  • Mechanical Design: Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks/Autodesk Inventor) to assist in the design of machinery components and sub-assemblies.
  • DFM (Design for Manufacturing): Collaborate with the R&D team to ensure new product designs are cost-effective and feasible for production.

Client Relations & Travel (25%)

  • Technical Sales Support: Attend industry trade shows to provide live demonstrations of our machinery and answer deep-dive technical questions for prospective buyers.
  • Customer Site Visits: Travel to client facilities to assist with installation, troubleshooting, and custom integration of our manufacturing solutions.
  • Feedback Loop: Translate customer “pain points” into actionable engineering requirements for our product development team.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field preferred (not required).
  • Experience: 2–5+ years in a heavy machinery or precision machining environment.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in CAM programming (G-code/M-code).
  • Strong 3D CAD modeling skills.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication. You must be comfortable presenting to groups and speaking with high-level stakeholders.
  • Mobility: Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
