Our client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to help manage the bi-weekly payroll cycle of their growing team in NYC. This person would also help support the HR team on special projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and process bi-weekly payroll for all employees with accuracy and timeliness.
- Review and validate employee timesheets for accuracy, verifying hours worked, overtime, leave balances, and approvals.
- Calculate, withhold, and process mandatory deductions (taxes, social security, Medicare, etc.) as well as voluntary deductions (benefits, retirement contributions, etc.).
- Administer and maintain accurate records of wage garnishments, levies, and other court-ordered deductions in compliance with legal requirements.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
- Maintain employee payroll records and respond to employee payroll inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Prepare and distribute payroll-related reports for Finance, HR, and management as needed.
- Support year-end payroll processes, including W-2s, tax filings, and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accuracy of employee data, benefits, and deductions.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for payroll process improvements and efficiencies.
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in payroll administration or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of payroll practices, compliance, and regulations.
- Experience with payroll software systems (e.g., Paycom preferred).
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
