Our client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to help manage the bi-weekly payroll cycle of their growing team in NYC. This person would also help support the HR team on special projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and process bi-weekly payroll for all employees with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and validate employee timesheets for accuracy, verifying hours worked, overtime, leave balances, and approvals.
  • Calculate, withhold, and process mandatory deductions (taxes, social security, Medicare, etc.) as well as voluntary deductions (benefits, retirement contributions, etc.).
  • Administer and maintain accurate records of wage garnishments, levies, and other court-ordered deductions in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and respond to employee payroll inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll-related reports for Finance, HR, and management as needed.
  • Support year-end payroll processes, including W-2s, tax filings, and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accuracy of employee data, benefits, and deductions.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for payroll process improvements and efficiencies.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in payroll administration or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll practices, compliance, and regulations.
  • Experience with payroll software systems (e.g., Paycom preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
