Our client, one of the most prominent real estate development firms in NYC, is seeking a strong Corporate Accountant. This person will perform the day-to-day accounting for all corporate entities, issuing accurate and timely reporting with a deep understanding of financial operations and cash management.
Responsibilities
- Assist in issuing consolidated income statement and balance sheet reports for all corporate entities on a cash and accrual basis
- Issue compliance reporting for the line of credit
- Review and approve AP
- Confirm general ledger account coding and accurate GL descriptions
- Maintain cash balances for all entities – daily cash balance update to ensure cash is available for expenses/distributions
- Complete funding requests to the trusts for operating cash
- Ensure funds are available; aggregate balances and move funds
- Initiate wire transfers and ensure timely cash recording; responsible for ensuring wires are recorded within 24 hours of payment
- Close 10 corporate entity GLs monthly (Cash and Accrual books) within 30 days after the end of the month
- Perform bank reconciliations within 15 days after month-end
- WorkpapersExcel File – For each entity, prepare workpapers for all entities using format/policies and procedures; understand all assets and liabilities and how they are effectively managed for cash flow and income tax purposes
- Journal Entries – Propose, write, and post journal entries
- General Ledgers – Maintain accrual and cash general ledgers; assist the Director of FP&A in projecting the quarterly corporate cash flow reporting updates and the annual projections
- Assist in the annual tax return process for the 10 corporate entities
- Manage outside tax firm (FTI) in preparing and filing the quarterly rent tax filings
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
- Approximately 2-5 years of corporate accounting experience
- Experience handling multiple entities
- Strong software skills including Excel
- Real estate experience is preferred but not required
