Our client, a leading real estate firm based in Manhattan, specialized in multifamily and mixed-use properties, is seeking a strong Assistant Fund Controller. This company is very stable, has a friendly and collaborative work environment, and offers a hybrid schedule (WFH 1-2x per week).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial packages including entity-level statements, investor activity summaries, allocation schedules, and performance metrics, ensuring that all reporting aligns with governing documents and relevant accounting standards.
  • Serve as a point of contact for investor inquiries and provide clear, timely responses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external service providers to deliver accurate reports within required timelines.
  • Support day-to-day fund operations such as monitoring liquidity needs, coordinating capital activity, and partnering with portfolio, treasury, and management teams on cash movements, funding requirements, and distributions.
  • Oversee coordination with audit and tax advisors, managing timelines and deliverables to keep processes running smoothly.
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of recurring internal and external reporting, including quarterly and annual materials and presentations.
  • Verify that management fee calculations and related accruals are completed accurately each reporting period.
  • Maintain a high standard of service in all interactions with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Participate in building and updating team procedures, checklists, and workflow documentation to improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline.
  • CPA credential is a plus.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Background in public accounting and experience with real estate or fund structures is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of partnership accounting, partnership agreements, and waterfall mechanics is required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
