We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our client’s team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth and operations. This role requires a strong background in construction accounting and finance, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to grow into a management role. Ideally, this candidate will be bilingual English/Spanish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial and accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Prepare and present accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
  • Manage cash flow and financial risk, including credit and collections.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, and prepare audit schedules.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls and financial reporting systems.
  • Oversee the preparation of tax returns and ensure timely filing.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and support to senior management for decision-making.
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition.
  • Proficiency in Sage 300 accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
