Our client is the one of the largest property management firms in New York City, with over 10,000 units managed throughout the tri-state area. They currently have a need for a General Manager to oversee a portion of their portfolio, located in Manhattan.
This is a hands-on managerial role where you would be heavily involved with the buildings in your portfolio, while also managing a large support staff working under you.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee operational aspects for a portfolio of approximately 1000 affordable, LIHTC and Section 8 units
- Oversee financial operations including cost allocations and expense allocations
- Ensure compliance with affordable housing regulations, including income certifications and recertification’s
- Manage and track housing quality standard inspections and repairs
- Oversee violation mitigation efforts involving HDP, DOB, ECB violations
- Maintain frequent resident engagement and follow-up, ensuring excellent tenant relations
- Create and implement strategies to help improve resident retention
- Prepare and release vendors and ensure approvals are in place, reviewing invoices on Avid Exchange
- Track and oversee annual apartment inspections
- Collaborate with external agencies, such as HUD and local housing authorities
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the properties
Requirements:
- 10+ years experience in Property Management, experience with affordable housing required
- Experience overseeing a large portfolio of units
- Strong knowledge of affordable housing regulations and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse tenant population
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in property management software and Microsoft Office Suite
